She translates Medieval poetry, meticulously and audaciously. In between, she dreams up melodies and fabulous tales. No one knows where they come from, but for her they are just matter of everyday life.


She says for her, making a film is like writing a poem. Her films are abstract and ambiguous.They stem from the commonplace, arise, only to return to the simplest human realm. One must go back to see and hear them again to grasp what one missed before. The good news is that there is always something else, something new one can grab in her creations.


These days Zahra is working on a new publication of 13th Century poetry, planning a drama entitled “The Dinner” and studying composition with Robin McClellan.
